The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Gallery

Nerdy roving museo with an unfinished manuscript and a heart of muscle.

So there’s a lot of crap happening on Planet Earth (I had a convo this weekend with my high school BFF about our inability to understand how much room there is in peoples’ heads for trivia about pop stars when there are quite literally too many important news stories to keep straight, but enough of our pseudo-intellectual posturing) and of all of that crap I have tended to focus on the Wisconsin protests, on this blog and elsewhere. I am staunchly pro-union—furthermore I am staunchly pro-private sector unionization and pro-white collar unionization—and I feel like I shout into a vacuum about these topics a lot of the time. It’s nice to engage in actual conversations and debates about a real news story rather than digging through random page 73 news briefs or statistics about museum employees and trying to make blog posts out of them. For example.
What I’m saying is: unions are a pet topic of mine (and important!) and I’m pretty self-indulgent on my own blog(s). But holy fuck, guys. Gaddafi is murdering his own people en masse. He’s trying to enforce a news blackout. There are jerkwads amongst my own countrymen whose only concern about any of this is the fact that it pushes up oil prices. Not to be flip (as if I’m ever not flip), but this shit is bananas, b-a-n-a-n-a-s.
I’m not sure where I’m going with this (except insane) because I’m not promising “fair and balanced coverage” or anything. I guess I just want to make sure you’re all aware that I’m aware that what’s happening in Wisconsin is not more important than what’s happening in Libya.
